My advice would be to get over it and spend some time thinking about something more important. I am going to be bald soon and have no sympathy for you soon-to-be silver foxes!

Why cure it? Go natural, you may be surprised at the results. Mine was a prime example.

I'm afraid I think there is no "cure", but modern dyes and turning the grey more white can have a wonderful effect.

all the best,

I guess you should dye it often. It will grow back if you cut it.

I used to dye mine black or brown but the roots kept showing and when I came to live in Tenerife the strong sunlight made the condition worse so I gave up. However, I realised that it made a ready-bleached form of hair that is ideal for comb-it-on crazy colour hair dyes! lol

Someone I know bought a cream for making gray hair grow back to black naturally. It's quite a public brand of cream, and available in any supermarket. I don't remember the name exactly, but it worked for him. :)

I haven't seen a gray hair on his head since he started using it, and he doesn't dye his hair either. But he said that one of his friends tried it and it didn't work for him, so probably it doesn't work for everyone...

gray hair is caused by the melanocytes in the hair follicle not producing the pigment that colours the hair.

this can be due to aging, stress or skin diseases.

if it's age you are largely out of luck. the melanocytes are going to bed and unlikely to wake up.

if you are stressed figure out why and treat it ASAP.

if you have a skin infection, dermatitis or psoriasis, get it treated!

You can prevent hair from going gray but once it turns gray there is nothing I am aware of that will reverse it.

The same goes for baldness. You can stop your hair from falling out but you can't make it grow back short of using any of the hair regrowth formulas that prove to be only minimally effective.

Systemic fungus causes gray hair and it appears to create permanent damage. I don't know exactly what causes baldness, just absolutely positive it can be cured through personal experience. Without the cure I would be bald.

withania somnifera, or ashwaganda has a reputation for prevention of greying hair. I had one time a patient in his thirties, who was greying, and started using it. I do not know if it worked since he emigrated, and took a few litres with him.

Grey hair isn't a disease in most cases. Why people feel the need to deny their age is beyond me. Getting old beats the alternative (getting dead).

There's no cure, only quick fixes. So you can dye it or wear a wig.

There's a product called Regain (so its called in Europe- dont know about USA) - tablets which make your hair grow back in your natural colour.

As an in-between solution just use colour toner - but after a while you'll find that there are no more grey roots, and at some point you can stop using the toner.

A natural way to cover up some few silver hair far apart is HENNA hair-die- if you have too much grey, however - it will not help really.

Advantage of Henna is - it leaves your hair nice and shiny and never damages hair, unlike bleach (peroxide=contained in most hair bleaches) and real die. Colour toner is also more gentle to hair.

It's a question of character as to WHEN you want to grow your grey hair out and carry it with pride.

If you are past 60 - I give you a tip: make close-up photos of yourself and others within a group of people several times a year - and look over them every now and then.

When you find you have too many wrinkles for your jet-black hair - switch to your natural grey - and you will actully look BETTER - if not younger - but less ridiculous like that Ronald Regan who died his hair jet black with 75+ while his wife sported her silver locks!!!

To be good looking, colour of your hair is not as important as the fullness of your mob - AND good styling.

There's another way to keep greying at bay: healthy diet= 5 portions of fresh fruits and veggies a day - sports and fresh air.

At the end of the day: genetics have a lot to do with when you start turning grey- just watch your (grand-) parents and photos of them, and you'll see what you can expect. Balding and hair loss - also mostly inherited (genetics) make you look older and less attractive, and this can have some other causes, too (illness, stress, some medication, menopause, some contraceptives).

For men as well as women who are getting thin hair or start balding, here's the answer: http://regrowyourhairnow.us

Beware of answers: "topical"; "not sure approved in US"; "prevention", etc. The fact of the matter is-- the demand for a "cure" for graying is so humongously ginormous (as is hair retention and restoration) that the health & beauty industry is very aware that such a discovery would mean instant and permanent wealth of untold porportions to the inventor. Believe me, you wouldn't have to ask what it is, it would be in not just hair products but everything from motor oil (when the guy changes it, gets some on his hands and brushes his hair from his face) to bottled water (doesn't everybody drink it now?) Your best bet is a topical application that mildly deposits slight color pigmentation in gradual proceedings over time so that your color "restoration" will be subtle if noticeable at all. The test is that no one says they noticed you dyed your hair but they can only say, "you look different, in a good way, though".
