Chinese People

The people of China are no different from other people in the world. If you find yourself asking, ‘Why are People Extremely Terrified of Chinese People?’, then, you may as well ask yourself this, ‘Are Chinese People Extremely Terrified of Other People?’ These thoughts will come to people when they deliberately decides to be ignorant about the Chinese people and for very many years this has not been helped by the political rivalry between the East and the West.

Chinese: A Very Closed Society?

One has to accept that from the outside, the Chinese is a different culture by the language, food, dressing code, religion and other practices such as politics as well as being competitors economically. The fact that not many people from outside China bother to study the Chinese languages and that few Chinese can speak the English language, then it comes out that the Chinese look like a very closed society that is not willing to release out their hidden secrets. For example: Just looking at the instructions manuals of Chinese products selling internationally will tell you that Chinese are not willing to hire (for a few dollars), from outside, good English writers to polish the instructions manuals for their products that are meant to sell outside china.

Chinese Have Very Beautiful Women

The truth is that the Chinese are friendly and social people that if only we can know, each one of us would love to associate with the Chinese people. There is quite a lot one can learn and appreciate from the Chinese people but just because of our ignorance we are yet to make use of such rich knowledge. China is a very large country with many different cultures but people from outside China seems to think all Chinese looks and behaves the same. Besides that, the Chinese have very beautiful women.

How Much Do People Know About The Chinese People?

The million dollar question is how much do people know about the Chinese people? It seems there is very little known about the Chinese people in the western world as every now and then I keep on getting silly questions about the Chinese people. Silly questions that I wonder those asking should easily be having ready answers for them. But because they are asking then it’s only fair to assume they do not have the answers to these questions. Some of the most common silly questions are the following:

Silly Questions about Chinese People

  1. Do Chinese people eat babies?
  2. Do Chinese people eat dogs?
  3. Do Chinese people eat cats?
  4. Do Chinese people have eyelashes?
  5. Do Chinese herbs work?
  6. Do Chinese people make babies?
  7. Do Chinese people eat rats?
  8. Do Chinese people eat monkey brains?
  9. Do Chinese people write from right to left?
  10. Do Chinese people do this and that?

These and many other questions are the little silly questions one would wish they are not asked but because people just keep on asking them, I think its only fair we answer them.

1. Do Chinese People Eat Babies?

Answer: The Chinese people do not eat babies. Why would a human being eat its own baby when a wild animal like a lion can not eat its own babies? However, China is a large society with a population approaching 1.4 billion people. Like any other large society some misguided humans would want to follow a cult’s beliefs and once in a while there can be negative report of mothers feeding on their own fetuses believing this would strengthen the immunity of their human bodies. If ten people did that out of a population of 1.4 billion, the probability of a Chinese person eating babies is just zero if you were to ask any Mathematician. This is a crime and can happen in United States of America, India, Africa, Europe, Middle East, Australia or anywhere else on planet earth.

2. Do Chinese People Eat Dogs?

Answer: Yes, they do. Dog’s meat is very delicious if you didn’t know. Dog’s meat is also being eaten by some people in the Western world as well. The dog’s meat that is eaten by some Chinese cultures is specially selected from certain breeds of dogs and dogs are specifically raised for the purpose. When you go to Rome do as the Romans do. When you go to Saudi Arabia do not talk about eating pig bellies and consuming alcohol, but when you go to New York you can comfortably switch to their delicious bacons and cold beer. It’s important to bear in mind that eating dogs in the Western countries is considered offensive. This is why children when growing up in the West are usually taught by their parents to keep off dog’s meat as it’s only eaten in china. And before long, the question: Do Chinese people do this and that?

3. Do Chinese People Eat Cats?

Answer: Yes, they do. In northern Italy, the people of Vicenza have been known for very many years in the past to consume cats just like cats are consumed as staple part of the local diet to the people of Guangdong, China. In America, cats are among the best pets kept by people there such that people from outside America wonders why. Eating cats in the Western societies is considered a taboo and people will abstain from eating cat’s meat because of religious, cultural and hygienic reasons. These reasons may not necessarily be right to everyone the world over but just an assumption.

4. Do Chinese People Have Eyelashes?

Answer: Yes, they do. The Chinese have short and straight lashes in majority of the people. This is indeed a silly question to ask. But wait a minute. If a white guy goes to Africa, he can be asked if he has any skin pigmentation by people whom according to him may all look alike. When I was watching the FIFA world cup match recently, the commentator remarked that the Korean players had names that sounded the same and the players all looked similar – the referee must have found it very rough to know if the players he had in the first half were really the same he was having the second half of the game.

5. Do Chinese Herbs Work?

Answer: Yes, and No. This is one area you need to check and countercheck. The fact that it is a Chinese herbal medicine does not mean it will cure your disease, or it will not cure your disease. China is a very large country with thousands of crooks that may want to take advantage of you by treating you using uncontrolled and undocumented medicine. Use Chinese herbs at your own risk. Most of those herbs have side effects that are not documented. They never say how much of the herbs is too much or too little. The fact that a backstreet crook is telling you that this and that herb has been used by Chinese men and women for thousands of years should not make that concoction safe for you to put in your body. Most of the kidney’s problems people are having today may be as a result of such herbs.

The traditional Chinese Medicine includes treatments such as Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, dietary therapy, Tui na and Shiatsu massaging. It is said that the Chinese traditional medicines is rooted in meticulous observation on interaction of nature, cosmos, and the human body. The Traditional Chinese medicine is systematized under the People's Republic of China which in itself is an authority that you can rely on that the Chinese herbs do work.

6. Do Chinese People Make Babies?

Answer: Yes, they do make babies. Babies are made when a man and a woman fall in love and inside the process a baby is made. If they do not make babies, then all Chinese will get extinct after about 100 years and there will be no one remaining in china. China has a one child policy where people in urban areas can only get one child per husband and wife. Like in any other society, the boy child is preferred more than the girl child. This has resulted in people using advanced techniques in predicting the gender of a child before conception and after conception. The final result has been a country with more men than women. Lets wait and see where the Chinese men will get wives from. This is a good policy of controlling population by using a switch. In the Western world, they argue that if you educate the people, then, the educated people have a tendency of giving birth to only children they can be able to take care of and as such population growth is controlled only to the well educated. Unfortunately, the educated ones may have better chances of having superior genes than those who are not fortunate to have performed well in school. Do not tell this to the Pope. The bad thing about these policies is that when people get used to not giving birth, a time will come when you will want them to have babies and at such a time governments will learn that it’s very expensive to have people make and raise babies

7. Do Chinese People Eat Rats?

Answer: I don’t know. What I know is that a rat’s soup is very delicious because I read an article that said so on The Wall Street Journal. I personally do not find much difference between eating rodents such as mice, rats, squirrels, porcupines, beavers, chipmunks, guinea pigs on one side and rabbits on the other. And because I like eating rabbit’s meat once in a while, I certainly would not be surprised if I was told Chinese people eat rats. Eating rats should not be a problem to men as rats have been used by man in many experimental studies which have been very useful in our understanding of genetics, diseases and the effects of drugs on man. What is good to a rat should be good to man. The truth is rats are edible by man as they have more-readily available source of protein than fauna you have around. If you can be unfortunate to go to war proper in your lifetime, then you will realize that rats are a delicacy for the fittest.

8. Do Chinese People Eat Monkey Brains?

Answer: This is a very difficult question to answer as people will also ask you if the Chinese people eat the brain when the monkey is still alive. We do know that people in the Western world can comfortable eat freshly laid eggs when the egg has not been cooked - is that true or false? If you read Chronicle of the Cultural Revolution by Gao Yuan, or the movie Faces Of Death, you will find mention of Chinese people putting a monkey under a table with a hole so that the monkey head come at the top of the table through the hole. The monkey’s head would then be split with a hammer and there you would have a monkey’s brain for you to enjoy.

The Chinese people are very humane people who understands the rights of animals and the idea of eating raw and fresh monkey’s brain directly from a monkey’s skull when the monkey is still alive is not acceptable by the mainstream Chinese people. Eating a monkey is very common in many parts of the world but only if the meat is well cooked. China being a society with 1.4 billion people, its no wonder to find a few Chinese people with traditional beliefs that eating raw monkey brains will cure *impotence. In Tanzania (Africa), the albinos are in huge demand from witch doctors who are willing to pay top dollars because they believe the body parts of albino people will make good medicine to cure *impotence and AIDS. This should tell you that the world’s most feared thing by man is *impotency. So now you know what men fear most. Please do not exploit that weakness.

9. Do Chinese People Write Right to Left?

Answer: Yes, and No. Why do you want them to read from right to left? This is another question which is commonly asked as: Do Chinese People Read Top to Bottom, Right to Left or Left to Right? The original Chinese was, and still is, written in vertical columns from top to bottom; the first column is on the right side of the page, and the text runs toward the left. The reading will also be in vertical columns from top to bottom; the first column being on the right side of the page, and the text is read toward the left. But that is old fashioned – in 1955, the government of China mandated left-to-right writing where they use a style similar to Western layout - horizontal rows running from left to right and reading is from the top of the page to the bottom.

10. Do Chinese People Do This And That?

Answer: Yes, the Chinese people will do everything everybody does. They are no different from anybody else and there should be no reason for People to be Extremely Terrified of Chinese People. These are propaganda that are generated by political propaganda machines so that you can isolate, create fear and rule. But you should know that a figure of 1.4 billion-plus people who seems unified is a very terrifying figure.

Why are People Extremely Terrified of Chinese People?

The question, ’Why are People Extremely Terrified of Chinese People?’ will come in your thoughts when you do not know much about the Chinese people. In the West, people places high value to education and information. Most information about other cultures is obtained when people travel freely throughout the world. Today, unlike before, one will see thousands of Chinese people travelling as tourists in many countries of the world. In western countries, and in particular United States, many people are known to save thousands of their hard earned dollars for several years so that they can one day make a holiday of a life-time in world tourist destinations such as Maasai Mara. It’s by travelling widely and meeting people of different cultures that one’s come to appreciate that different people think differently, and that there is a difference between a donkey and a zebra.

Wow!! This Hub kind of took my breath away!! In this day and age I didn't know there was still so much ignorance out there!! If people are really still asking those hurtful questions, our world is indeed in more trouble than I thought!! Thank you for sharing!! Earth Angel!!

Very interesting, but no I don't fear Chinese people. In truth, most people I have met from China are humble gracious and generally eager to learn about me and my culture. Diet is a matter of upbringing and a cultural affair. Cod cheeks and tongues are a treat in Cape Breton, NS, Canada while deep fried pig intestines are enjoyed in the southern US. As for my dog and two cats, perhaps a few recipes pinned to the fridge will keep them from doing their business on my floor.

Bon Appetit,

Honestly, this is the very first hub I ever read word by word to the end. Thanks a lot for spreading the information. About rats, people in the south do eat them, or at least make them a type of medicine. I saw many of them (dried) sold on streets during my 5 years stay in the university in Hefei (sort of south), so it is relatively a popular animal to be consumed in China. Overall, when it comes to eating strange things, only the south of China comes into play. I'm from the north, we absolutely do not eat anything strange, maybe just dogs and donkeys (I've had dog meat only once when I was 20 something, sorry, it indeed tasted great). Cats and snakes are traditionally cooked together (in the south only), given the name "dragon tiger fight". My brother-in-law once had the chance to enjoy this meal in Guangzhou, he said it was so delicious. I don't know about monkeys, though I've heard about raw brain thing, vividly described so I believed it was true (again only in the south, people in the south are very different)

It is usually people who have not traveled much who find fault in other cultures eating habits.

I didn't realize anyone was afraid of Chinese people. I have never been.

I'd just like to say I find it exceptionally amusing that you are asked all those questions.

As a foreigner living in China I get asked hundreds of ridiculous questions everyday.... it's called 'bao ying'. I've often wondered if when Chinese people go to my country do they have to suffer the same as we do.

I'd like to make one point though. Eating dog meat is Korean culture and not so much Chinese culture. And honestly.... it's not delicious. Although I have been told I ate the wrong type, who knows, it was an accident in the first place.

It's nice to know from your post that ignorance is world wide and it's not only me suffering!

"All foreigners have sex after first meeting each other very quickly."

"There are only two cultures in the world, Chinese culture and western culture."

"Every country in the world uses U.S dollars."

"Foreigners all eat bread and milk for breakfast."

"The English language originates in America."

I could go on, but I'll spare you. Thanks for the read though.

This is a very interesting and knowledgeable hub. Most of what you said is true. In Nigeria during the civil war, the Biafrans were so famished that they had to eat rats, RAW. Dog meat is a specialty in some parts of Nigeria, such as calabar. Another fact people might not know is that some tribes in Nigeria also eat snakes. It is very wrong to judge people on what they eat. We all have different tastes, One man's food is another man's poison. Thanks for this article. What people know they won't fear.

Actually, in periods of famine (think Great Leap Forward), Chinese people have been reported to eat their own children. Extreme case, I know, but I couldn't help myself.

I wouldn't say Chinese society is closed off as it is internal, which is kind of annoying in conversation. Everything revolves around China-specific issues that anyone outside the county wouldn't talk about in daily conversation or even recognise. You really have to be immersed in the culture to understand what is going on a lot of the time. Often pretty interesting stuff though

spirit, ur absolutely confused, chinese people do not eat monkey and all monkey nowadays are protected in the zoo, where can u get a monkey to eat mate? and Lu Rouguan is a kind of restaurant for serving meat but not monkey meat, Lu Rou is just a kind of dish made by very normal meat like chicken or poke but in a very special cooking way, tha's why it's called Lu Rou which can be translated as the meat cooked by boiling with chinese herb sources, NOT monkey!

I have eaten dog, cat and rat in China. Dog is quite a common and cheap dish in the winter in the south (eg. Guangdong) and the north (Jilin, due to Korean influence). I've only seen cat in a few places in Guangdong.

I find dog extremely delicious, and eat it every winter. It warms the body in the same way as snake meat. I can't stand cat - once was enough. Rat meat is pretty sweet, but its wild and not so hygienic.

Interesting...I am an expat Canadian who has been living in China for the last four years. Love the people, love the food! Along with pork, chicken and beef I have savored donkey, dog, snake, pigeon, chicken feet, bull penis and rooster testicles (at least that was the translation by my Chinese friends!) I have probably had other meats that I can't think of at the moment. I have never lived in a country with such a wide variety of delicious, spicy foods. Every culture has its own tastes and customs. Most Chinese can't stand cheese; they think it is just chunks of fat, which it basically is :).
